HOW WE GOT HERE
Cleveland native Logan Paul took up the trend of celebrity boxing in 2019 when he fought fellow YouTuber KSI. Paul lost that fight. However, thanks in large part to Paul’s brother Jake, celebrity boxing has become quite the spectacle in recent years.
Logan Paul long talked about potentially fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr.. But most people saw it as unrealistic. However, Mayweather agreed to the fight in December, setting up a massive payday of more than $100 million.
The two combatants have been hyping the fight light crazy since an official press conference that saw the Paul brothers getting into a scrap with Mayweather and his team in Miami.
Mayweather is no stranger to such spectacles. His last fight took place on New Year’s Eve 2018 when he TKO’d Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition bout. Prior to that, Mayweather went 10 rounds in 2017 against UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
The pay-per-view will feature three undercard fights, including former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson taking on bare-knuckle fight veteran Brian Maxwell in a boxing exhibition. Odds, below, are courtesy of William Hill Sportsbook:
Badou Jack -260 vs. Jean Pascal +210, light heavyweight
Jarrett Hurd -1200 vs. Luis Arias +750, junior middleweight
Chad Johnson vs. Brian Maxwell, exhibition
You can also bet odd things like will Conor McGregor attend or whether the fight will generate over or under 3 million pay-per-view buys, which is a huge number.
